Website to promote tax issues

Web site pushes transit-tax plan

Should be noted that out of the three counties, the Box Elder initiative is the only one that will actually help transit which would help pay for the extension of Frontrunner to Brigham City. Otherwise the ballot initiatives will fund only ROADS.

Photos of the Fashion Place West TRAX station

Here are some photos I took of the Fashion Place West TRAX station on June 25th. It is at this station there are tracks that lead to the maintenance facility. After competition of the West Jordan “Daybreak” line this will become a major junction.

Just as a note, when TRAX first opened in 1999, this was the only station outside the downtown area without parking. However, in less than a year a parking area was created and is well used.

These photos will show you the existing station and yard leads plus I will tell you the changes that will take place.

This is looking north toward the station. You can see crossing signal bridge that is used by trains heading to the yard in the background. Once the West Jordan line is built there will be two platforms and three tracks serving this station. Where the Jersey barriers are next to the track on the left is where the second platform will be and the third track will be where the northbound lane is (closest to the station). The road will be moved west (toward the left of the photo) which will allow it to link up directly with the street that travels further south.

Northbound train heading toward downtown Salt Lake. The track on the far right is the track that allows trains to come from the maintenance facility and head south. This is the area where the tracks will connect to the West Jordan line which will pass in front of the maintenance facility.

Another look at the northbound train at the station.

Here you can see the current connecting tracks to the maintenance facility. When the West Jordan line is built, the tagged building with the truck in front of it will be bulldozed to make room for double tracks that will connect up with the main line that is behind me.

Another look at the building and the truck. If you look closely you can see the road that heads south from 6200 South. It is this road that the street that currently passes the station will be rerouted to have a direct connection to. The crossing gates are actually an entrance to a building not the road.

A view looking southbound from the station. You can see the connecting track from the maintenance facility in the background. Just beyond the crossing is where the new connection will take place for the West Jordan line and the maintenance facility.

View down the platform at a southbound train (the one I just got off of). You can see the current connecting track from the north to the maintenance facility and the crossing signal bridge. This connector track will be removed and the road rerouted to follow the route this track currently takes.
